The best albums of 2022

Since my early teens I have listened to a lot of music.

Early forays involved sneakily recording my older brothers records onto cassettes prone to tangling. David introduced me to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Mike introduced me to Teardrop Explodes and The Smiths which led me down my own paths of discovery.

I borrowed New Order, The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen records from Beeston Library. I lingered at Selectadisc, flicking through a cascade of records debating what to spend my pocket and birthday money on (Talking Heads, Joy Division and The Style Council). Nervously taking my chosen LP to the counter and hoping that there was a hint of approval from the cool person serving.

40 years later I still enjoy discovering new music and so here are my favourite albums from the last 12 months.
